Course Overview

The course aims to provide students with an understanding of the managerial, decision-making and leadership aspects of the hospitality industry. In addition, it is also designed to develop independent research and study skills required when working at senior managerial level in the industry. It is therefore an excellent preparation for either entry to the workplace.

The Chartered Institute of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH) is one of the UK’s leading professional membership and awarding bodies for tourism and hospitality qualifications. Its mission is to develop and add value to careers in the tourism and hospitality industry all around the world. The CTH is endorsed by important industry figures and brands, including Tsogo Sun, Radisson Edwardian and Thistle hotels, the Dhaka Sheraton and many more.

The Chartered Institute of Tourism and Hospitality (ITH) is the Southern African cousin of the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH) in the United Kingdom, established in 1982. The ITH is the CTH’s representative in southern Africa. In this role, the ITH accredits training providers and supports them in rolling out the CTH’s UK-registered qualifications. The ITH also handles student and assessment registration on the behalf of the CTH.

What you need to enrol

Completed the CTH Level 4 Diploma in Hospitality Management, or have been granted an exemption from this.

How to enrol for this programme

Enrol with Triversita and register with the CTH as a student member (if you are a first time CTH student). Triversita will assist you in registering with the CTH.

How tuition will be delivered  

  • Full time starting February
  • Part time starting February and August

How long you will study 

  • 12 months full time
  • 18 months part time

How much it will cost

Click here to download our Course Fee Schedule. The programme fees include the initial issue of study materials, postage expenses and examination fees. The programme fee excludes CTH student registration fees, replacement study materials and excursion costs.

How you will be assessed

You will write three close book examinations which is set and moderated by CTH in the UK and hand in assignments for the remaining four subjects.

Accreditation of the programme

This CTH qualification is not registered on the South African National Qualifications Framework but are registered in the United Kingdom on the Qualifications and Credit Framework under QCF 601/7131/5. Teaching at Triversita for this qualification is pending approval from the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality.

What certificate you will receive

You will receive the CTH Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management from the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH).

How you can further your career

You may progress to the CTH Pro-Graduate Programme in Tourism and Hospitality Management and obtain the CTH Pro-Graduate Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management Level 6. If you want to continue your studies, at university level you may gain access to a relevant university degree at a number of universities in the United Kingdom.
